Retro Review - Gunstar Heroes
Gun star Heroes was created by Treasure (the same people behind Ikaruga) in 1993 for the Sega Genesis. It is a shooter and many people compare it to Metal Slug, although I think that is a very rough comparison, it does share some of the intense 2-D side scrolling action from the metal slug games. The game is based on fast movement and lots of action. In my opinion its a blast and loads of fun. The weapons system is very unique allowing you to combine weapons to get different results in a Kirby like style. The graphics are amazing for a genesis game and the animations are some of the best ever seen in a 2-D game during its time period. Another great thing about this game are the bosses, they fill the whole screen and are smoothly animated. As for the controls you get to choose between a free or fixed shooting direction. One of the only things I didn't like about this game was that it was a little short for my taste, but I guess you can only cram so much of those beautiful graphics on a genesis cartridge.
Overall this is one of my favorite games for the genesis and its one of those games you just cant stop playing once you give it a go. Now on to how it plays on the '2x. It runs very smoothly at 200mhz or slightly below and the resolution of the game fits the screen well, the only injustice done to this game by the 2x is the joystick. It's a little hard at times to maneuver you character and shoot all with the stick on the '2x. But even with the stick this game is so great it's still definitely worth the space on your SD card.
Therefore I give this game a 9/10

Thanks for posting GP2X software reviews! A couple questions/suggestions ...
Consider linking to the wiki.gp2x.org pages for each game. This will provide valuable background and a download link. One example where this would be helpful for your readers is: I don't know if Gunstar Heroes is a port (source code was available), a clone (rewritten), an emulated game (you need the ROM), or if it's an engine rewrite (so you'd need the media to play).
There are some inconsistencies in spelling and grammar. You mix it's and its in a couple places. You sporadically upper case names in some cases (Gunstar Heroes) and not in other cases (sega genesis, metalslug, metal slug, etc.) A couple legitimate spelling errors (charater, definatly). Nothing major, but cleaning up your style a bit would make the content easier to read.
I also don't know what a "kirby like style" means and I've played some of the early Kirby games.
Anyway, I look forward to future reviews.
Thanks for the suggestions. I'll be sure to tell what the game is, but in the title where it says "retro review" that means it probably refers to a rom and emulator. In the later Kirby games you could suck up different enemies and combine their abilities to create unique powers for kirby. Also I will try my best to have proper grammer. =p
Thanks for the comment and keep 'em coming.
There, all fixed up. Did I miss anything?
I figured that it was emulated, but couldn't be sure as there was no mention of which emulator you had used. That's actually important information when you consider that different emulators play at different speeds and have different compatibility with different games.
You're linking to DrMDx, but Picodrive seems to have the momentum behind it right now.
There are still quite a few capitalization issues, a run-on sentence or two, and mixed usage of its and it's. I'd rather not belabor the point though.
Thanks for clarifying what Kirby-like meant.
